Focus on Microscopy 2018

Dear Colleagues,

After the successful conclusion of the last conference in Bordeaux, we would like to announce FOM2018, the next conference in the FOM series. It will take place in Singapore from Sunday March 25 to Wednesday March 28, 2018. Please note that this is in the week before Easter 2018.

The Singapore conference will start on Sunday morning 25 of March with a number of free tutorials, followed by parallel sessions and Flash poster presentations. Around 17:30, a plenary opening session with invited speakers is scheduled followed by a welcome reception. For details see the tentative program under the “Program” link on the left.

It is near the famous Singapore East Coast Park with beaches, restaurants and bicycle rides 

After the close of the conference on March 28, a conference dinner is planned.

Singapore city is a beautiful city-state off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, 137 kilometers north of the equator. First settled in the 2nd century AD it has known a rich history as part of various empires, British colonial rule and finally independence in 1963. It possesses its own international airport, Changi with a direct Metro connection to the city center. The Singapore Expo convention center is close to the Changi airport.

Focus on Microscopy 2018 is the continuation of a yearly conference series presenting the latest innovations in optical microscopy and their application in biology, medicine and the material sciences. Key subjects for the conference series are the theory and practice of 3D optical imaging, related 3D image processing, and reporting especially on developments in resolution and imaging modalities. The conference series covers also the rapidly advancing fluorescence labeling techniques for confocal and multi-photon 3D imaging of -live- biological specimens.

Typical topics of the upcoming FOM conference will include:
• Theory and practice of confocal and multiphoton-excitation microscopy • Super-resolution, nanoscopy imaging: from PSF engineering (4pi, SIM, STED), fluorescent activation/quenching, stochastic/centroid (PALM, STORM, GSDIM, SOFI and related techniques) to TIRF • 3D and 4D live cell and tissue imaging • Adaptive optics for microscopy • Light sheet microscopy • Phase/interference based microscopies, • OCT, holographic, endoscopy • Advanced fluorescence imaging/spectroscopy: FRET, FRAP, FLIM, FCS, SOFI • New fluorescence probes, proteins, quantum dots, single molecule imaging • Clearing and expansion techniques. • Coherent non-linear microscopies: SHG, THG, SFG, CARS. • Multi-dimensional fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy imaging • Correlated microscopies, light/electron, et al. • Laser manipulation and tracking, photo-activation • Fast acquisition, automated and high-content microscopy • 3D image processing and visualization for multidimensional data

A technical exhibition will be an integral part of the upcoming FOM conference.
